A Solar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth. When this happens the Moon blocks the Sun’s light from reaching the earth. Solar eclipses are very focused and narrow, like a laser, unlike Lunar eclipses, which are seen by many.

On June 1, 2011 the Earth will experience a partial Solar eclipse. From the NASA Website:

“The eclipse begins at sunrise in Siberia and northern China where the penumbral shadow first touches Earth at 19:25:18 UT. Two hours later, greatest eclipse occurs at 21:16:11 UT. At that time, an eclipse of magnitude 0.601 will be visible from the Arctic coast of western Siberia as the midnight Sun skirts the northern horizon. Although most of Alaska and northern Canada will witness the partial eclipse, the southern limit of the penumbra falls along a curve from south of Fairbanks to central New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Reykjavik, Iceland receives a 0.462 magnitude eclipse just before sunset. Northern most Norway, Sweden and Finland also get a midnight Sun eclipse with the event hanging above the northern horizon. The partial eclipse ends at 23:06:56 UT when the penumb

ra leaves Earth just north of Newfoundland in the Atlantic Ocean.”

January 4, 2011 Eclipse Revisited.
I think it is important to retrace our steps and see how correct astrological scenarios play out that I discuss. Here is the video I posted before the last eclipse of January 2011. In it I discuss the main themes I discussed were related to social and personal justice and integrity (Sun, Mars, Moon, Rahu in Sa

gittarius), Learning lessons about elevating personal desires (Jupiter/Venus aspect in Scorpio) and the need to face harsh realities with neutrality and beyond the sense of denial (Mercury/Saturn aspect from Virgo and Scorpio – Two Tamasic Signs)

The main news stories of the world since the January 4 eclipse are the “Arab Spring”, “Japan Earthquake / Nuclear Crisis”, “Osama bin Laden Death”. All of these stories are larger than just the events themselves, having far reaching implications – as is the nature of eclipses. In all of these events, the nature of the described astrology comes through, I think (although the Jupiter/Venus aspect is more personal – not as cultural.

June 1, 2011 Eclipse Analyzed
This will be the first eclipse to take place with the Nodes in the Taurus/Scorpio axis. It is one of two partial eclipses taking place between now and July 1, 2011. The first eclipse in a new Nodal axis sort of “christens” that placement of the Nodes. Most noticeable are the dignities of both Mars and the Moon, who are both powerful. The Moon in Taurus is in its Mulatrikona sign, a place of deep connection. The moon in Taurus is in the place where pure feeling takes root in the solid soil of contentment and reflection rather than being dispersed through a dissatisfied longing that just generates endless emotions and cravings. Yet, the Moon is completely dark in a Lunar eclipse, showing this potential to be more negated than supported.

The powerful Mars in Aries is also the ruler of Jupiter and Venus , continuing themes related to enthusiasm for righteousness and personal strength. Aries is a sign of military action and dictatorship, thus we may s

ee continued violence and brutality – such as we have seen in Libya and recently in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The New Moon/eclipse(s) in Taurus will bring a desire for more stability and (hopefully) an increased capacity for practical methods to solve some pressing problems, like greater diplomacy and skill.

Of note, I would alert the reader to the status of Mercury, no longer debilitated or in inimical signs – as he has been since March 6, 2011. it takes a strong Mercury to be practical, sensible, make the necessary adjustments, communicate realistically and sensibly – in order to make progress. For example, Hosni Mubarek stepped down from Egyptian rule and protests broke out all over the Arab world when Mercury passed through Capricorn and Aquarius in early 2011.

Nakshatras and Vedic Details

Rohini
This Eclipse takes place in the Nakshatra of Rohini, which means “growing”. It is ruled by Lord Prajapati (Later Brahma) the creator. There are themes of beauty and pleasure in this Nakshatra and also qualities of jealousy and even incest – as Prajapati sought to mate with his daughter in this Nakshatra to create perfect beings of flesh to inhabit the world. This is a parable of the one becoming many as seen in all spiritual traditions.
Bharani
Mars and Venus are in Bharani, ruled by Lord Yama, the God who takes the should to its correct place and he who completes and ends our action – delivering the final verdict. Bharani is a place that shows us where need to act with restraint so as not to waste our time and energy. But to show us this a result is delivered, something is born – as the symbol of Bharani is a yoni, the female reproductive tract. Whether man or woman, our will penetrates existence, giving birth to something. This process may replenish or deplete us.
