Scorpio themes will dominate the upcoming week. Those themes include strengthening our fears and insecurities, both in our self and others. We have to be careful not to attempt to control others, but instead look inside our own heart, reaching for self-mastery and self-control.

Exchange Between Saturn and Mars
The ruler of Scorpio, Mars, is exalted now, and he will be until early January 2015. This exalted Mars brings a lot of individual accountability as a motivation. But it may also bring willfulness and the competitive “desire to win”, or “desire to assert ourself” into the mix.

However, Mars in Saturn’s sign and Saturn in Mars’s sign also sets up an exchange, which helps to hold together all things indicated by each. So, discipline and self-control (Mars), as well as  facing our own mistakes, determination and commitment (Saturn) themes will be advanced. That does not mean these things will be pleasant or enjoyable.

Jupiter Aspect – Especially to Venus
Jupiter in cancer is aspecting the planets in Scorpio. In particular, Wednesday and Thursday this week, Venus will move into an exact aspect with Jupiter. This should show some great lessons coming down from our teachers, illuminating our relationship tendencies and mistakes. However, inner conflicts around our higher principles and hopes intersecting with our personal desires will be revealed as well. Often our relationship choices are not in alignment with our beliefs, and neither are our desires or our quest for pleasure.

ammaAmma Story – Illusion of Separateness – Pleasure/Pain Cycle:
I just returned from a 2 week journey with my Guru, that illustrates a lot of these themes.

From the Q&A segment at Amma’s retreat, there was a question about whether change begins first from the inside, or should we work on changing the outside first.

The first part of Amma’s answer was so profoundly simple, yet so deep. She basically said there is no difference between inner and outer – whatsoever. But because we are so deeply identified with ourselves as a body we see division everywhere, in everything – when there is none.

As we become more clear about the nature of reality, that projection of separateness ends and we see the truth that inner and outer are completely ONE.

Later in that question, something else was said, that also very poignant about the nature of pleasure and pain. She said how all experiences, even enjoyable ones, are mixed with pain, due to this same illusion – the illusion that the enjoyable experience came from something external, rather than it being us enjoying / experiencing our inner Self.

Saturn actually refers to the pain of separation from our true Self. We experience this as our “mistakes”, others mistakes and how they lord over us.

Venus has to do with the bliss of the soul, that we chase in the form of life’s fleeing pleasures – and their wispy romantic promises.

Scorpio (and Mars) has to do with the feeling of weakness that derives from the terrifying prospect that our life is devoid of love and connection – actually to our True Self – but we focus it on external forms / people.

Deep Stuff.

Sam, hello. You said that Saturn refers to feeling the pain of separation… But what would be the opposite of that? I mean i consider each planet as perfect and right now the way it sounds as Saturn is about separation… So its not very uplifting. Would it be that: when I feel connected with my true self theres no pain in separation because any external separation feels like councious letting go?
