Vedic astrology – New Moon in Virgo

Filed in Featured Articles, News by on September 26, 2011 • views: 1982

The new Moon in Virgo takes place at 4:09 AM on Tuesday, September 27, 2011

At that time the moon will be at the last couple seconds of Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra. The deity of this Nakshatra is Aryaman, who is related to contracts, governments and official business. It is not surprising we are seeing such government upheavals now. Both in the United States and around the world, there are protests and incredible restlessness with the status quo – market volatility. We can expect more of this in the next month.

Joined this new Moon (and Sun) is debilitated Venus, exalted Mercury and Saturn. The need to be practical and rational in our value assessments is big thing right now. Those value assessments include our personal relationships and larger issues of respect, both culturally and personally (Venus). Also, our sense of personal power and pride also being challenged, and we are wondering if we really have what it takes (Sun). The connection between our government, big business (Sun),.. cash money and real assets (Mercury and Saturn) and prosperity (Venus) are big, and tied to a feeling of disrespect – personified by the Wall Street protests in the US and the recent elections in France.

Mercury and Saturn are neutral planets, that allow us to make rational assessments, adjust and let go of things if necessary. Mercury is very intellectual about these things and tends to see beyond all of the emotion and passion, bringing a playful, information gathering mindset. Saturn tends to take things more seriously, afraid of wasting time or resources, ready to let go of things and reprioritize our commitments.

All of these will be big seems for the next 30 days.

The willingness to be more intelligent and practical about our relationships is a big personal theme now. We tend to make big compromises where Venus is, in order to feel connection. There are a lot of unreal emotions about how “loving” we are, feeling unappreciated in spite of “all we do”. The Venus/Saturn conjunction may bring some heavy consequences to teach us the real truth.

Exalted Mercury will make it more likely that we can see the humor in our mistakes and reach out to others to discuss things – thereby rescuing this db Venus. The great thing about Debilitated Venus is Mercury is usually close by.

In the general reading video, you spent a lot of time explaining the dignity of the planets and how that works in stellium. It's nice to have the various planets' energies clarified in relation to one another. Nice job on that! In the members' video, your focus on houses and house transits really solidified a lot of ideas for me about house transits. Will bookmark this video with a tag about "houses" for my further study. Thanks, Sam!
